CMY 2021 Journey

The Carmelite Missionaries Youth started the year 2021 with the Web of Life, the first module to start a yearlong online formation program implementing the Level 1 Series of Formation that will prepare the CMY for full-fledged membership. At the end of the 2021, those who will complete the Level 1 Series of Formation will be first batch of full-fledged CMY. The first organizational meeting was on January 4,2021 where our Sisters in Indonesia decided to have the CMY Formation in Indonesian language. It was followed by a series of meetings, practice and dry runs.

CMY Philippines had their first online formation session through zoom live streamed on Facebook on January 16, 2021 and from then on it will be every 3rd Saturday of the month from 8-10 in the evening until December. Those who were not able to join the formation for the month will have make up session before joining the following month of formation. More than a hundred young people joined last January 16. The usual problem encountered is bad weather and weak internet connection.

CMY Indonesia will start their first session on January 24, 2021 from 3-5 in the afternoon and from then on will have it every 4th Sunday of the month until December. The CMY both in Indonesia and the Philippines together with the Sister will take turns in facilitating the formation program so that each one will have a part in its implementation and hands on in their own formation. At the same time a learning experience both for the Youth and the Sister to do online evangelization.

The young sisters in our formation houses in the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam attend the activity as part of their exposure in the youth ministry of the Blessed

Francisco Palau Province since they could not do the usual immersion program designed for formation.

The pandemic is both a curse and a blessing. The blessing is it introduces us a way of doing things together and effectively because now we widen our reach even to young people who have already migrated to other countries.

Thank God for showing us the way. In the midst of the challenging situation we found the path that will unite us even more and closely work as one.

Thank you God.

The Carmelite Missionary Youth began the year 2021 with “Web of Life”, the first module to initiate a year-long online training program that implements the Level 1 Training Series that will prepare CMY for full membership. By the end of 2021, those who will complete the Level 1 Training Series will be the first group of CMYs in their own right. The first organizational meeting was on January 4, 2021, where our Sisters in Indonesia decided to have the CMY Formation in Indonesian language. It was followed by a series of meetings, practices, and rehearsals.

CMY Philippines had its first online training session streamed live on Facebook on January 16, 2021, and thereafter it will be every third Saturday of the month, from 8 to 10 p.m., until December. Those who were unable to join the training during the month will have a make-up session before joining the next training month. More than a hundred young people joined on January 16. The usual problem is bad weather and weak internet connection.

CMY Indonesia will begin its first session on January 24, 2021 from 3 to 5 in the afternoon, and thereafter it will have it every 4th Sunday of the month until December. The CMY, both in Indonesia and the Philippines, as well as the sister, will take turns facilitating the training program, so that each participates in the implementation and at the same time takes care of their own training. In this way, it becomes a learning experience, both for the young people and for the Sister, when doing evangelism online.

The young sisters from our formation houses in the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam attend the activity as part of their experience in the youth ministry of the Blessed Francisco Palau Province, since they were unable to follow the usual immersion program designed for formation.

The pandemic is both a curse and a blessing. The blessing is that it introduces us to a way of doing things together and effectively: we now extend our reach even to young people who have already immigrated to other countries. We thank God for showing us the way. In the midst of a challenging situation we find a way of walking that will unite us even more, and we will be able to work closely as one body. Thank God!
