The feast of Francisco Palau, a deeply ecclesial man, prompts his daughters - the Carmelite missionaries - to present him for what he really was: a life woven by synodality. He was very much aware of his call to serve the Church: his Beloved. But he feared that this love would disappear with his own disappearance. And very attentive to his inner journey, he dreamt of living it in its dimension as an involved collective. The synodal Church was his dream, yes, for God continued/is still entrusting to people the task of the Kingdom.

I trusted, Palau, in God-good as a point of reference. The mystery of the Church, rather. To approach friends and acquaintances to share his own convictions. Numerous quotations testify - in their correspondence - to this interest: CI will take care of collecting those who wish to join me, account 57. In this way, it made it easier for them to descend to the best layers of their own. It plunged them into silence: authentic and transforming, where the life of GOD is manifested, which revives the fragility of human existence. Considerable spaces of encounter with Him. God-love warmed the surrender and the joy of this common journey.

As this group grew, it needed Father Palau more and more. The reason? There was an urgent need to welcome the projects generated, to evaluate them, to guide them, to moderate them and to accompany them. Because the contributions of the community were multiplying.

During the time that Francisco Palau lived, how did he manifest the dream of synodality? He updated his relationship with the church, yes, for it was not just - at best - an excellent management of a few, albeit with impeccable organisation. To alleviate such a living space along the way, each and every one became clearly aware of what it meant to intensify their awareness of being a synodal, circular Church. Not pyramidal. To know that they were responsible for this change and to ensure its growth. To be able to count on such participation, of course!

In this way, he facilitated their descent into the best strata of their own. It plunged them into silence: authentic and transforming, where the life of GOD would later manifest itself, rehabilitating the fragility of human existence: Jesus loves you. The gift and task was the synodal Church, of course, so he was able to discover the path that could help them to live communion: I present to you, each day, on the altar as one heart, ch.7 and to be open to the mission. For "walking together" strengthens communication and leads to communion, which is obvious! At the same time, it allows us to face the difficulties and storms of life with an ecclesial spirit and to seek and find solutions together. To grow in the conviction that things can be done better if everyone gets involved and participates.

The synodal journey is also rooted in the concrete life of the People of God. The small successes of such experiences, as well as their limits and difficulties, help us to strengthen communion in the Church. Always docile to the action of the Spirit. He will communicate to the people what they should say and do. It is also an incentive to share this simple, transparent but vital experience.

Francisco Palau thus facilitated their descent into the better strata of their existence. In this way they too entered and grew in the role of ecclesial synodality. When Palau died, they already formed a considerable group, which managed the Family's journey in a synodal style.

The time of formation included the sowing of values: those of the Kingdom, yes. It meant living in a climate of resurrection for having gained access to it thanks to baptism. An area of fullness. At the same time, it made them descend from the experience of the "I" to that of the "we". Francisco Palau had sown in them synodality in a tireless way. Walking in this direction was a challenge. God was and is the infrastructure. Everyone's. The greatest common good. For the great ones of the journey, the centre of life is Christ, the Church - in the experience of the Palautian family - everything else is relative.

Communication is the prelude to deep communion: with God and with others. And to go on mission in this spirit of synodality is a matter for each and every one of us. The will of God is good.
